I haven’t seen the sound issue directly addressed in any of the first drives or reviews etc. Does anyone have definitive info about for example whether the exhaust system can deliver crackling like on a Huracan or Range Rover Sport SVR? Or is that technically not possible on a turbocharged engine? I admit ignorance on this topic.

Yes it has crackles and yes you can make it sound much better with an after market exhaust such as capristo, Fabspeed, Akrapovic etc
