Anyone trade in a 570S for a 580-2?
I 570S was recently traded in near me and I'd like to know why the owner decided to make the switch.
After test driving both of them and even spending some track time in the McLaren, it is very obvious why you would choose one over the other, but I can't imagine trading one in that quickly.

I guess just personal preference? So they traded in a 570s for a 580-2?

Yes. If it was just personal preference, you'd think they'd have sorted that out before making the purchase. Maybe they didn't, but I am worried there is something more serious.

Good friend of mine has a 570s, he said the build quality isn't great. He's had issues with opening his door, window switch not working and navigation screen not turning off. Could be one bad car or common issues with other 570s as well.

I've read about those complaints as well. If you had enough of them I could definitely see that being a reason to ditch it. I am 3.5 hours away from the nearest Lamborghini or McLaren dealership so even minor warranty work will be a hassle.

I test drove one today and its an amazing car but they have quality issues, at one point in the test drive the passenger door would not lock on a brand new 570s it would keep going up and the sales guy had to hold it down during the test drive and tell me not to go fast and then i tried to turn the radio on and it just kept saying initializing so i never got a chance to hear the sound system but it drives amazing and engine sounds great.

Thanks for the anecdotes. Yeah on my test drive, the engine kept flashing a warning about the emergency brake. They said to just ignore it.
When I did the track day though, the cars held up great racing non-stop on a triple digit day. So the quality issues at least don't seem to affect the drivetrain, but you can't drive it with the door opened, so drivetrain reliability doesn't do you much good.

The reason is, they are just a step over a homemade kit car.Not established street car manufacturers like Lamborghini/Porsche.I have several friends that have 650S and they have all kinds of issues.Sure glad I picked the Lambo....

Not sure why anyone even considers purchasing a McLaren, especially with all the info/comments available on the forums. My brief ownership was a complete nightmare. I didn't think was possible anyone could build such a POS these days. Issues with all aspects (engine, electronics, a/c, doors, etc).
