Not true, only if you order it you vet the scale model. Even if you buy it new from the dealer inventory you still do not get the model car.

I know that's what happened to me, they had exactly the car I wanted white with red interior and loaded 287k sticker. No reason to place an order.

All cars are built to order, so a matching model was built as well. I guess the dealers sell those off for the extra $$$.

Dealers order cars for their inventory, not just cars ordered & spec'd by customers.
Not sure if you know but that scale model also has a plate where it states the name of the owner, for a dealer ordered car it would be impossible to get a name on that tag...
