Dealers claiming aftermarket exhaust voids engine warranty?
So far two different dealers have told me I lose my warranty if I do aftermarket exhaust.
This sounds absurd to me, but wanting to know if there is any proof to the contrary?
I had assumed when dealers say this it is usually to sell you OEM parts for extra pocket money, but I don't want to go do something only to find out they were right.
Anyone got any *first hand* information?
I know that an aftermarket exhaust is not actually going to potentially lead to engine failure, but I don't want a potential loophole for the dealer to back out of approving a potential warranty claim.

PS- I know that there are several statements on the exhaust manufacturer websites citing previous cases that indicate this should *not* void warranty, however I am unsure if those clauses are valid in Australia. I am wondering if anyone has first hand experience or any way of confirming either side of the story?

I was told that some huracans with aftermarket exhausts had their engine warning lights on after 2000-3000 kilometres, due to improper installation of the exhaust?! therefore, it revokes the warranty ?! to be safe, just install the Lambo factory race exhaust. The dealer will ask you to sign a waiver due to the noise pollution.

In some states (U.S.) they are getting very strict with aftermarket exhausts that violate the car manufacturer's legal noise limits; both the car owner and installing dealer can be fined and (the installing dealer) could lose their repair license. Waivers won't cut it.
California is cracking down on this big time!
Money to be made; They are broke. (CA. V.C. 27151).

I am hearing the same from dealers about any aftermarket exhaust on a Lambo. The bottom line is that ,while legally it may not void a warranty, all they have to do is flag the car as being altered and they will not fix the car no matter how much you bitch about it.You,may win in the end,but it will be a big fight. Not only that, can you imagine a fire incident with a Lambo and your insurance company finds our that the car has been modified, esp.anywere near the engine or exhaust.Very good chance they will deny any claim..Screwed...
These cars are not Mustangs ,must be careful, because it may cost you dearly.
I like the after market systems, but this situation concerns me ,do I take a chance like this on a 300,000 car....I also like the Lambo factory Ex,but the price is crazy for a exhaust....
For me now,the one that came with the car is all good.....

Well, I guess it really depends on the dealer. My dealer, friendly I guess, has absolutely no problem with it.

Insurance companies make it a lot easier to send your premium in, than to get a settlement check in the mail.
