A sales suspension will never happen.
But, the loss of $15 billion in VW share valuation and the possible $18 billion in fines plus the stain on VW's worldwide image is nothing to laugh about! Some people will be going to jail.:o

As per the news today:

•According to EPA rules, VW could be fined up to $37,500 for each vehicle not in compliance with emissions regulations, or a total of around $18 billion. California regulators could issue their own fines.

•Meanwhile, the U.S. Justice Department has reportedly taken the preliminary steps to open a criminal investigation.

• It seems heads are starting to roll within the Volkswagen/Audi Group due to the diesel engine emissions scandal as after CEO Martin Winterkorn's resignation yesterday, a report issued by Bild now states Ulrich Hackenberg - the man in charge of Audi's research and development - will also leave VAG along with Wolfgang Hatz, Porsche's engine chief.
• Volkswagen of America's chief executive Michael Horn will be dismissed on Friday and replaced by Skoda chief Winfried Vahland.

As i anticipated this "scandal" is artificially snowballed by those that have financial interests here. I do not see a social reaction yet, not even from buyers. Not even from eco warriors that should have benn all over this subject by now.

Speaking to more than 20,000 employees in Hall 11 at the Wolfsburg plant, VW Group Chairman Matthias Müller made it clear that "apart from the enormous financial damage (which it is still not possible to quantify as of today) this crisis is first and foremost a crisis of confidence."

"That is because it is about the very core of our company and our identity: It is about our vehicles."

Müller: "We are dealing with four brands and many model variants ... Volkswagen owns: Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche"

Müller went on: "Volkswagen Group will postpone or cancel all projects that aren't 'absolutely' necessary".

I wonder what this will do to Lamborghini's future products?
What a mess.:(

The Urus is a profitable car, i doubt there will be any changes.
However if the Chiron is financially identical to the Veyron (VW lost money on every model produced) then its possible to see some interesting developments in that area.
