Racing my LP580 vs 991 Turbo - Launch annoyances

    Hey guys,

I brought the LP580 to the track yesterday for 1/4 mile drag night. Thought it was performing pretty well, 11.3 was my best time @ 125mph. However, I was then challenged by a stock 991 Turbo. We raced 3 times and I lost all three times because of his superior launch. I would lose by usually 0.8 seconds but my trap speed was always higher than his. I was using thrust mode the whole night but I felt I was still getting a bit of tire spin before the car really started gripping. Anyone have any tips for a better launch with the RWD beast? Perhaps not using thrust mode and just manually launching in 1st?

    Any suggestions are welcome!

It's no surprise you lost to the 991 Turbo - it's AWD, and will always hook up and get off the line MUCH better than a RWD-only car.

It's a very close race between the LP610 and the 991 turbo, so with the disadvantage of RWD, you won't be winning that one any time soon, unfortunately.

Do not be sad,I have a 991 Turbo S and LP610 Huracan. The Turbo Ss are animals from the dig and they do it every time. The 610 Huracan will do the same from the dig,but not every time, depending it it hooks up.Their is really nothing faster than a TS from the dig ,definitely not any RWD car with street tires. However, once the Huracan get rolling it will go by a Turbo S..Both are excellent..

My only suggestion is to up your tire temp before racing. Same problem as my 12C, RWD and if you are on Pzeroes and they are below 120F, I expect significant slippage on launch.

Tire temp is a good tip but as it was said above you cannot beat the launch of a AWD car with an RWD car.

Here's a 580 vs. 991 Turbo S from a roll. Looks like the 580 falls back immediately, stays in that position and doesn't start to reel it in until high speeds.

Found another one, looks like the Turbo S just keeps pulling.
