Announcing the release of the RSC Tuning LP680 Aero Kit on Friday July 15th

Over the next few days we will be discussing the process used to develop the kit and the philosophy behind our design. We hope you will appreciate the hard work, time, and money that went into this project.

    Part 1: In the beginning…

We decided to purchase an in-house Huracan for multiple reasons. By having our own vehicle available to us 24/7 we were able to visualize different angles and surfaces in different lighting conditions. We were able to disassemble all the major bumpers and figure out the difficulty that might go into installing certain products and which products might end up degrading the appearance of the vehicle in the long run. We wanted to develop this kit from the standpoint of a real owner as opposed to someone standing on the outside of this world looking in.

When designing this kit we took a unique approach. The idea was to enhance the work of the Lamborghini design team by honoring their goal of creating a vehicle with clean surfaces, modern lines, and sharp edges while at the same time providing attractive enhancements to differentiate your vehicle from the rest.

Here is a link to a short video with the lead designer of the Huracan:

The almost Zen-like design was inspired by minimalist and modern design principles used in Yachts and high-end Lofts. Below you will find the final versions of the 2D design renderings we developed for this project.

One of the big debates we had in manufacturing this kit was whether we should utilize traditional hand-molding techniques or spend the extra money to design and engineer the kit using the latest in 3D CAD technologies. As part of our commitment to you, we chose the latter. This meant we had to Laser Scan the entire vehicle and use this CAD data to engineer our parts. Below you will find pictures of the car and the laser scanning process as well as pictures of the scan data after the laser scans were completed.

Stay tuned tomorrow we will post more information and pictures regarding the engineering of the actual parts and prototypes for testing....
