    test drove R8 plus

I was invited to test drive a R8 PLUS this afternoon.

I have to say, Huracan beats R8 in all aspects.

In term of cost, starting at 220000 CAD, after options it will be 250000. After tax and dealer charges, the grand total is very close to 295000. It costs 50000 to 60000 less than a Huracan lp610. Why anyone wants an audi at that price and it will take up to 9 months to deliver the car.

My roommate let me test drive his 2009 R8 V8. It's a single clutch, so it makes it even slower.

When I drove it, I was expecting Lamborghini performance, but it didn't come close to the Huracan. It felt slow for a car I was expecting to be like a Huracan. I thought something was wrong or I didn't press the pedal right, but he told me the way I drove it was as fast as it was going to go.

He just goes into denial mode when I tell him the Huracan I rented is faster than his car. He takes his car very personally and even though he already has a cool car people will take their iPhones out for, he still takes it personally when he is told there are better cars out there.

Performance wise they might be close but just look at it, especially in the back, there is really no comparison to the Huracan.

Maybe I am biased towards Huracan, I know the two cars share the same HP and engine. Somehow, Huracan feels quicker to me. Lambo Racing Exhaust beats R8 sports exhaust by a 100%.

Gen 1 R8 was beautiful and imo still is, gen 2 looks blah and doesn't have the same road presence.

the New generation R8 incorporates many Audi RS design elements. The front of the car looks similar to RS7. the rear looks similar to a Gallardo.

Exactly! That car had Audi DNA, elements inspired from the Audi LeMans racer. This new model lost that Quattro DNA.

Was one of the cars I was looking at before I purchased my LP580-2.

Personally I do not like spending a good amount + dealer mark ups on an Audi, so that gladly stopped me and made me go for the powerful H!

However the demand for R8 is quite high, 9 months before delivery. Being cheaper than huracan does make a huge difference

I also test-drove a 2017 R8 V10 Plus in the same color as the one in the pics posted at the start of this thread, as part of evaluating the purchase of my new Huracan.

I really liked the R8 -- fantastic vehicle. In the end though I preferred the Huracan for mostly intangible reasons... The Italian design has a certain soul to it. For someone who prefers Teutonic design, the Audi would be a no-compromise vehicle.
