Noise from my LP580 steel brakes
My car comes with standard steel brake discs, unlike you guys with ceramic discs. Now already 1500 kms on it. I heard the noise whenever it comes to a full stop. I thought it might need some time to run in, but the noise level remains the same. I can hear the noise even with the windows closed, the sound is like a bus or truck when stopping. The braking force is excellent, just the noise. I look up in the Owners manual, it says "the car use steel brake discs and "semi metallic brake pads" , and may expect some noise, it is normal."
Anyone drives a LP580 with steel brake discs just like my car? Any noise from your car? High performance brake pads always make noise??

Sorry to hear about your problem. It would drive me nuts.
Any suggestions from the dealer?

You my want to try a couple of real hard stops with some speed, that will some times will quiet them down.

I second this opinion. The steel rotors are the same wave-style used on other high power Audis and it is known when braking softly over time the pads get glazed. Braking down heavily 3 times acts like beading and may clear them up again. Be warned as this will create some dust and smell
But it should help.

The dealer said most LP610 or LP580 have the same kind of noise , he told me the material of the brake pads are noiser than older models, but the friction is much better. They checked other cars with the same issue but considered normal. He told me the brake pads used on the GT3 version is twice as loud as mine. Haha, what can I say? I think the noise doesn't bother me much, so let see if it will get worse later. Thanks for your reply.

I am facing the same issue on my LP580 with steel brakes. Braking performance has not been affected though. Braking heavily seems to fix this issue temporarily. Cheers!

That is good news why the brakes make noise.Again, when my car had about 200 miles on it ,I did 3 stops from about 120 mph.and I have never heard a sound out of the brakes and they work perfect.Just to the point were ABS will activate, not harder than that...
