Hi Cam,
Soon to being a young owner myself (23 years old), I though my views might help you in choosing which model. No doubt the LP610 is the superior and faster car amongst the two. If your son is not previously experienced with sportscars or 500hp+ sedans, I would definitely go for the LP610 as it is the safer and more controllable car as well. If you live in an area which sees snow or rain for most of the year, again the LP610 is the winner.
What I did notice though is that many of the younger generation enthusiasts I know, including myself, who have had previous experience with sportscars, prefer RWD over AWD setups, as they are more engaging to drive. Maybe asking him which cars he prefers amongst Audis(AWD) and BMWs(RWD), would give you a better perspective as to what he really wants?

That is a very good point. I just asked him and he said he generally prefers AWD, (He currently drives a CLA45 AMG AWD, and likes it much more than his previous car). As I live the UK where rain is unfortunately common, I also think the LP 610 is more suitable. Thank you for the help
As a sidenote, if anyone is wondering I do not spoil him, the reason behind the car is he recently graduated and has done very well in his exams. He is very grateful for what he has and is in no way a snob.

What a coincidence! This is the exact reason my parents are gifting me the car as well. Like your son, I am very grateful and have been working hard in college. I consider myself blessed to have such loving parents. I appreciate cars for driving aesthetics and design rather than showing off or being the fastest. I am very well aware of the effort my parents put in for each and every cent they are shelling out for the car. Receiving such a gift has only inspired me to make something of myself and make my parents proud someday. I am sure your son feels the same way!

Congratulations! Very good to hear, you go for it! Yes he does, and I can't wait to see his reaction. I think I will park the car in front of the house (in a birthday wrap), and ask him to go and get the coat I left in one of our cars. I'm sure his reaction will be priceless!

I guess the decision has been taken.
I can see a drawback tho: if you'll drive it probably you'll one want too, maybe the SL
btw. Post up some pics of your SV

I am going to try my best to resist! A SL will most likely be in order! Talking of SL, do you think it is this Lamborghini to unveil new supercar at Geneva motor show in 2016 | Autocar ??? Also what do you think of VW may be selling Lamborghini, Bentley etc due to the emissions scandal? I will post some pictures of the SV on it's return, as it is currently at our house in Monaco. Very excited for the potential SL, I saw the post with the leaked pictures, it looks very nice!

Mr. Cam,
You must absolutely make a video of your son's very first drive and post it here so we can all see his excitement and joy!
