Rented vs Owning Huracan

Ya I love driving it when I had it for 20 minutes. I dunno if I will love driving it as my only car, but I would feel obligated to if I dropped that much on a car. But it felt more comfortable than a Gallardo, even with it's aggressive seating position. I also sat inside a Murcielago and that thing feels like sitting on a rock, but the Huracan found a way to relieve it while still being an aggressive car.

But how is $245k for a barely used Huracan? It's the only Huracan I found on Craigslist, I just wonder why this guy would suddenly wanna sell it. Only has 2000 miles on it. In pics it still looks brand new. I feel he should be talked down to $200k though.

And then my friend's mom kept asking if I drove the cheapest Lamborghini. Like wtf you mean cheap, you mean entry level? Any entry level Lamborghini is going to destroy any top of the line BMW or Mercedes sedan. Thing is still a monster for a cheap Lamborghini.

If you really want to get a feel for these exotic cars, I'd suggest looking at one of the rental places near Las Vegas. Not the track experience, but the rental places. I rented the LP570-4 performante over 2 years ago and it costed me around $800 for around 4 hours/80 miles then. The red rock canyons are about 20 miles away, so you get to drive the car for roughly 40 miles on the freeway (round trip). The real fun however, is driving in the canyons and you need to be extremely careful when exploring the limits on these cars. I'd suggest going there off season or on a weekday when traffic is minimal.

Unlike me, if you really enjoy the attention these cars get, the strip is about 15 minutes away.

An Lamborghini is not an investment so stop thinking about it like that. Consider it a big boy toy.

I may consider doing that one day, $800 sounds pretty good to rent it for 4 hours. Hopefully maybe they have Huracans now. Do they have a guide with you or can you take a passenger?

I just wonder how some people crash these cars when they leave the dealership. I know these cars are not user friendly and you still have to keep them under control. Every launch I did, I always held the wheel steady as possible and never went above the speed limit. I just accelerated as fast I could to the speed limit so that way if I am at the legal speed limit, then my car shouldn't crash.

I only got to try the Huracan on city streets in LA, around downtown and USC area. The Staples Center is where I got most my attention because there was a game going on that day. Some guy asked me if I wanted to race when we were stuck in traffic.

Have another question, can the car overheat if you rev too much? The guy told me there's a meter that shows the heat of the car to ensure you don't overheat, and says revving is bad for the car if you're over doing it. Can the car catch on fire?

No guide, you are on your own. That's what makes it more fun compared to the track experience in Vegas.

As for your overheating question, the simple answer is yes. The Gallardo used to go into 'limp mode' when the engine was overheated, limiting revs to around 6k. Not sure if this is the same case with the Huracan though. Revving up an engine at a standstill is definitely not recommended. There have been several instances when cars did catch fire from over revving, including Lamborghinis.

Oh ya another question, do you get free parking at the front of a club or trendy restaurant if you got an exotic?

I always see exotics parked at the front like they want people to think rich people go there, so do they get those front spots for free? Or valets will always have the exotics displayed prominently at the front.

You're expecting to get 'free' parking by driving around in a $250,000+ supercar? LOL! Valets have exotics displayed in the front to make the hotel more appealing.

Correct. Not sure how its in US but here in Europe you get free parking if you are staying in a hotel or you go as client to a restaurant.

Here in the US, you pay a parking fee in most hotels in the big cities.
