I read this on some other website, and this may be a clue regarding what you bring up about 'pissing off owners':
"It seems to me they are already planning on pulling the plug on the 650S. If so, this would be the second time McLaren lied to it's core customer base (they said the 650S would not replace the 12C -- and 2 months later they did exactly that)."
Nothing wrong with the looks of 570S,
It presents itself much better, imo, than the old dreaded look of Porsche, or R8. But that's about it, it doesn't touch Huracan by a mile.
I've done the whole McLaren thing. Never again!
570s is not a bull or horse by any means...almost bought a 12c 2 years ago when suddenly it came 650 , then so quickly 625..no matter how quick it is it still doesn't provide that "wow factor"...i'm glad i have a bull on order..
I would only want to say that McLaren is playing a really dangerous game with the 570S, in theory they are different but due to lower price this model could even take a bite in the 650S sales.
Was offered new Mac 650s for $75k off sticker. Those things are depreciation time bombs. I buddy of mine lost $60 in six months on his (after they took off a boat load)...took his hit and move on. In fairness not sure how well Huracan will hold up depreciation wise into the '16 model, but nothing as bad as Mac.
The 570S has a carbon fiber tub (MonoCell II), and does have more torque than the Huracan. As a result, the Sports Series is lighter, and offers a better power to weight ratio (Dry Lightest; 434PS vs. 429PS). There are other small things that the 570S offers as well, such as a bigger trunk space, and coming standard with adjustable dampers, which is an option on the Huracan. I personally wouldn't call the 570S a direct competitor for the Huracan, but these are just some things to keep in mind if anyone does want to compare the two.
