    Looks like a Pre-LP motor, rod failure isn't really uncommon with those, they have failed at factory power levels. Are you saying that specific failure is a result of another shops work? Care to share who that might be so people know who to be weary of?

    most rod failure and problems in the oil starvation and bad oil. there can be numerous reasons as far as why. this particular motor was due to low dirty oil and beating the crap out of the car when it was cold. most shops sometimes don't stress the importance of proper maintenance or really now what to look for. its important sometimes to be able to pick up on the little things that can affect major things. for ex another shop had decided to convince to the client to pull of the vacuum actuators that control the secondary flaps in the intake plenum and zip tied them open saying that he would get better response and more power. little did they know they zip tied them over extended in the wrong way. that plus a few other things lead to the car eating about 3 quarts of oil a drive...
