Anyone tried hooking their iPhone through USB? When I plug mine in it can't read any music files from it, says the iPod is empty :-(
Anyone having a similar issue or better yet a solution?

My iPhone works just fine. But I prefer to use USB stick.

Are you running the latest version of iOS?
Are you sure it's not connecting over Bluetooth?
I am going to try a few other iPhones and see what happens.
    Thanks for your reply.

Have used various iPhones, both iOS 7 and 8. I refuse to use iOS 9

That might explain it. I am on the latest version. Tried an iPod with the latest iOS and it too does not work.

Figured out what is going on. Looks like if you use the USB adapter to the MMI with a Lightning cable it does not work. I tried the MMI cable with an older iPhone 40 pin connector and a converter to Lightning and that worked. I was not too impressed with the functionality provided as Playlists don't show up (but the folder does). Looks like VW/Audi also make an MMI Lightning plug that I will have to ask my dealer about. Don't know why it came with USB and Apple 40 pin and not a lightning connector.
